Untouched World Kashmir Pashmina Made in Kashmir India
These beautiful unisex pashminas are lovingly handcrafted by artisans in Kashmir who passionately work using looms, implements and techniques passed down through generations since the 15th century.
The wool produced in Kashmir is the best quality in the world, and the lightness of Kashmir Pashmina is achieved by the use of very fine Cashmere thread. The fabric has to go through 20 different manual processes including being pounded in dried rice, treated with rice water, washed four times in the spring waters of Kashmir and being woven on a wooden loom. Kashmir is a disputed area often at war and in turmoil.
Each process is performed by a specialist artisan in their home, allowing the Kashmiri people to earn a living when they cannot venture out due to unrest. The scarf passes from one specialist's home to another with care and love that factories cannot imitate.
